1903
A meeting of free (not brewery tied or owned) hotel keepers decided to start a new co-operative brewery
1904
The Melbourne Co-Operative Brewery Limited came into existence.
1907
Formation of Carlton & United Breweries (CUB) when several local breweries, including the Melbourne Co-operative Brewery, amalgamated due to economic pressures and competition
1925
The Melbourne Co-operative Brewery was formally taken over by CUB. This takeover significantly bolstered CUB's position in the brewing industry, making Abbotsford a central brewing location
1972
The first VB stubby is manufactured right here in Abbotsford
2023
A group of traders meet to discuss creating an association to help bolster the community and showcase the area.
2024
The Brewers End is formed by the traders in the Abbotsford and Richmond area

OUR NEIGHBOURHOOD
Once known for its brewing, The Brewers End has had some major shifts over the years and is now a hub for some incredible businesses. This carved out portion of Richmond and Abbotsford was previously unsupported until a group of small businesses in the area came together with the goal to drive more traffic and awareness.
With the help of the City of Yarra, The Brewers End is run by the traders with the goal of increasing visibility to the great offering in the area.
